hundreds of sequins

I found this sequin shorts on my little weekend holiday and couldn't resist...

I have a couple of styles in mind, I will show you later. Right now I will browse through my closet and search for matching pieces!
And I think red shoes and lighter stockings with a seam would be just perfect for this outfit...

a hint of 50's style

My pencil skirt has arrived and it is great. The shape and length is just perfect! So I took a couple of pictures to experiment with different kind of styles. The first combination is perfect for the evening with the red rose top and the fitting make-up.

The following styles are held elegantly in black with a hint of colour through the flashy green belt in reptile optic on the left and the flower corsage on the right side.

The skirt is from Bernie Dexter and she has a couple of nice things in pin-up style, I have an eye on!

egg nogg & co

The cold season has started and soon christmas is coming, so I had a little party with my friends. Here are some ideas what to do:

Oven Ricotta for 2:
250g ricotta cheese
1 egg
50g parmesan cheese

1. preheat the oven to 200°C and mix all ingredients well before putting it into an ovenproof dish.
2. Let it bake for approximatly 20 minutes.

Egg Nogg for 4:
4 egg yolks
2 eggs
150g sugar
juice and peel of one lemon
250ml water
500ml white wine
125ml white rum

1. add all ingredients except the rum into a pot and heat it until it starts to raise, but be careful not to boil it.
2. add the rum before serving

Brioche perdue:
250ml red wine (Bourgogne or Alsace pinot noir)
1 tea spoon cinnamon
8 slices of Brioche
2 eggs
50g butter
50g icing sugar

1. spice the wine with the cinnamon and let the slices of brioche soak in the wine.
2. beat the eggs with a fork and turn the brioche slices into the mass.
3. heat the butter in a pan and fry the brioche from both sides.
4. serve with the icing sugar as toping.

blue, blue, blue.... into your eyes blue

Today my friend is giving a cocktail party and I was experimenting with some outfits. The decision is made now. It will be my blue silk dress from BOSS Orange which I bought last year on a short visit to Berlin during a business trip. If you are in Berlin check out their store, Because I liked their interior concept especially for the changing rooms!

I combine the blue look with golden accessories and dark eyes. It gives it a little bit more glamour!
P.S. I will show you the other outfits later next week!

Pin-Up Artist Gil Elvgren

A great source of inspiration are also pin-up artists like Gil Elvgren. From the mid 1930's through 1972, Elvgren produced over five hundred paintings of beautiful girls and women, which put a smirk in everyone's face.

red and white my blog title indicates, you have ended up on a page of a girl who loves everything red, so I thought I will show you my favourite pieces now.

Having a look into my closet you can find a red dress for every season and occasion. The left one is a lovely silk dress from BOSS, next to it comes a red corsage with polka dots from Jungbluth-Design in Hamburg and on the left side a woolen dress again from BOSS.

The book shown in the middle is called "Be burlesque". I have bought it after the Paris trip, because it has beautiful and inspiring pictures of french burlesque artists.

As make-up suggestion red lips and nails are a must! Nothing is more sensual than a cherry mouth.
But red lips are a bit tricky, so please use a pencil to outline the lips first, starting in the middle. After having filled out the whole lip, start applying the real colour of your choice.
And yes, I even have red chairs. They are actually vintage Alvar Aalto chairs from the 40s.

But before you can experiment new looks on your own, here a song from another lady in red:

As the cold season is just about to start and we solved the problem what to wear on formal occasions, now the question came up what kind of coat might fit to this look.

_ the classics
the two examples by Gucci show a very classic cut of an overcoat which is suitable for formal occasions. You can combine it with a suit or as shown with some elegant pullover underneath. If you have a look at the materials, there is once again the play with contrasts: once with warm and cool colours and the strong pattern of the tie, and in the other example the different textiles which give the black a different kind of depth.

_ light shades in different shapes
as I have shown you before, Salvatore Ferragamo has chosen very light shades for the grey season. The style of the coat is a classical trench as we know from Colombo, but in different kind of heavier textures which makes it suitable for cooler temperatures.

_ warm colours and materials
a more casual look give those jackets and coats by Gucci which stand out in the choice of material.

Fall/Winter 2011
_ jackets from elegant to rebel
for those who don't feel to confortable in a coat, here are some elegantly cut jackets by Salvatore Ferragamo in earthy warm colours which he uses in combination of different kind of shades.

I hope you found your favourite look and are prepared for the cool season now.

more Dior - the vintage look

Lately I got intrigued by the vintage style. I think it is the glamour and femininity especially of the 20's, 40's and 50's which I like most. And obviously it's not just me who finds inspirations in former eras.

The pictures are from Dior's current Ready-to-Wear collection and they combine elements from different eras. Besides the clothes, I especially like the hair style which reminds me of my young grandmother.

Here the accessoiries for the hair play an important role which are typically some feathers or a little hat which accomplishes the look.
The accent in the make-up lies in the beautiful red lips and very light shades for the eyes.
