(N)Ostalgia - in fiction and reality

I always felt a bit disturbed by the cult status Berlin is enjoying, but I started to realize what its charm is. It's a mixture of past and presence, East and West which can be felt at every corner. Some people are fascinated by the golden 20s other dive into the east nostalgia or as we Germans say "Ostalgia". I would like to introduce you to places in reality and fiction where you can explore the East.

                  Good Bye Lenin
Sonnenallee

As we arrived in the early morning to Berlin, our first stop was the DDR museum and restaurant for a nice breakfast with Rotk├Ąppchen sparkling wine, cheese, sausage and pickled vegetables. Rotk├Ąppchen Sekt is the "champagne" of the East and the name means "little red riding hood" just like in the fairy tale. Products from the East had their difficulties shortly after the reunification, but they are conquering also the West by now. And of course the sandman and men in the traffic light are also cult by now.

I have two movies for you, which bring you closer to the topic:

Good Bye Lenin
